“Can Animals Be Gay?” - NY Times article by Jon Mooallem
The stupid button-pushing title and slant aside, this is a pretty interesting overview of same-sex behaviors in several species. Including our own.
But—really, you’re going to title the article “Can Animals Be Gay?” even when in the article itself you acknowledge the problematic nature of drawing too direct a parallel between animals and humans?
I mean, we can’t even reliably apply “gay” and “lesbian” to our own species across divides like time and culture! Why are you trying to do it across biological lines? Sigh.
(Also I would be interested in learning more about the fa’afafine, NY Times. Just. So you know.)
